We’re facing an affordability crisis in Essex County.

I’m running for Essex County Commissioner At Large because I believe Essex County residents deserve leadership that is independent, transparent, collaborative, and grounded in the real experiences of everyday people.

From affordability and housing to transportation, flooding and public services, the challenges facing our communities don’t stop at municipal borders. County government should help bring our communities together to solve them.

MEET DEB

I’m a former Maplewood Deputy Mayor, small business founder, community advocate, and single working mom of three who has spent years bringing people together to solve problems and strengthen local communities.

As a member of the Maplewood Township Committee, I worked on issues that affect residents every day, from safer streets and climate resilience to public health, affordability and more responsive local government. Before serving in elected office, I founded businesses centered around community, families, and supporting local entrepreneurs.

Now, I’m bringing that experience and the same hands-on, collaborative approach to Essex County. I believe the best solutions come from listening to residents, bringing people together, and being willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.

PRIORITIES FOR ESSEX COUNTY

Making Essex County More Affordable

Shared and regional services, responsible county budgeting, housing, and using county government to help reduce the financial pressure on families and municipalities.

Safer Streets & Better Transportation

Complete streets, pedestrian and bicycle safety, better connections between communities, expanded transit options and transportation that works for people of all ages.

Welcoming & Pretecting our Communities

Standing up for immigrant families, opposing harmful ICE activity and detention, and confronting hate and discrimination in all its forms. Everyone should feel safe, respected and welcome in Essex County, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, or immigration status.

Climate Resilience & Stronger Infrastructure

Regional solutions to flooding and stormwater, protecting our tree canopy and open space, and preparing our infrastructure for a changing climate.

Transparent, Accountable County Government

Clear communication, greater transparency around county spending and decisions, and leadership that answers to Essex County residents. I will answer only to my conscience and to the people of Essex County, putting residents first in every decision I make.
